Gentrification

Gentrification has already changed the Waterfront and is increasing without a stop in near end. The downtown area is an excellent choice of residence for those that work in Manhattan, especially downtown Manhattan, but do not want to live in any of the New York boroughs. Jersey City also provides instant access to all of New Jersey via the NJ Turnpike and a tangle of state highways.

The above two images are from a local artist showcase at 111 First Street, which was originally a tobacco factory in the 19th Century and then later turned into an artist community. 111 First Street lost the battle to remain an artist community and will soon be demolished in favor of another luxury high rise. Where these artist will move, once originally from Manhattan's lower east side, is unknown.
