| For amateur use as well as
for many professional applications, the most popular format camera is the
35 mm. This camera type is available in two basic forms: the
compact, which has a permanently fixed lens, either of fixed local length
or a moderate zoom; and the single lens reflex (SLR), which allows you
to change lenses at will.
Before deciding between a compact and SLR, first determine the type of shots you will probably take. If only snapshots are required, then a compact camera would be your best choice. SLRs come into their own when
the use of large range of lenses and accessories is vital in the pursuit
of that special shot. The other major advantage of an SLR is the
precision of framing the image on the focusing screen is exactly the image
seen by the lens.
