The annual Workshop meeting was convened on December 4, 1996 at 7:00 PM by Arthur Greenberg (Acting Chair), at the Robin Hood Inn on Valley Road in Montclair, NJ. There was one guest, Stevens Student Member Paul Schonenberger from Belleville. The next meeting will be on January 8, 1996 at GEC-Marconi on Totowa Road in Wayne, NJ.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REPORTS

Arthur Greenberg, the new Chair-Elect of the IEEE North Jersey Section, suspended the usual agenda for this Workshop/Installation of Officers, and there were informal announcements and reports from the wealth of past, present, and future Officers, Chapter Chairs, and Committee Chairs that were in attendance.

F. Chichester (Treas) presented the Treasurer's Report for November, Budget Request forms for 1997, and Voucher forms. Vouchers together with L-31 Meeting Reports should be filed by the close of the books at year-end for expense reimbursements and the Secretary's annual report. Chapter and Committee Chairs are requested to submit budgets requests by the January meeting in time for the Budget Committee meeting during January.

S. Bogaenko (Sec'y) presented the November minutes, which were accepted as written.

A. Greenberg (Chair) announced that Fred Chichester has agreed to become the new Education Committee Chair, and Raj Natarajan has volunteered to chair the Electronic Communication goals of this section to make ourselves an electronic organization by the end of next year.

Another representative to accompany Dick Snyder at METSAC was required, and Mike Liechenstein volunteered to attend the monthly meetings. Lastly, as a new chair for the Conventions Committee, Mel Lewis has agreed to serve as the Acting Chair. Congratulations were again extended to Nirwan Ansari whose Communications Chapter was named the "Global Chapter of the Year".

Ken Oexle reported that Fellow nominations are due by 13 Dec 96.

Mel Lewis reported that with Dick Snyder's prodding and Nirwan Ansari's help, we did get the Newsletter on the Homepage. It should become even better with time. http://megahertz.njit.edu/~ieeenj

Dan Schkeeper announced that with Ken Oexle's help, the Student Chapter of County College of Morris will have a two-part Workshop on electric vehicles; first a lecture, then a hands-on demonstration of various electric-powered vehicles supplied by GPU on Friday 13 Dec 96.

Paul Schonenberger reported new work on an HTML format prototype for the Newsletter which appears much better than scanning, and holds great promise for the future.

Amy Galarowicz announced that Faraday Lectures will be available for presentation at schools, and has flyers for distribution.

Dick Snyder announced for Naz Simonelli that next year, a joint chapter of Circuits and Systems, and Electron Devices will be launched on 22 Jan 97.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM. The next meeting will be held at GEC-Marconi on Totowa Road in Wayne NJ on Wed 01-08-96.
