Without knowing more about the processes involved, it is difficult to use the MSDS data to its fullest extent. Even so, the data sheets show that the acetyl chloride is very toxic, and dangerous. Also, the hydrochloric acid which is produced in large quantities by the acetyl chloride reaction has many undesirable properties. Knowing more about the types of processes being employed in the plant would have made the MSDS information more useful. This will be discussed in more detail later.
