Academic Assessment Activities:
Basic Skills Council of New Jersey: Member 1984-92,
Chair 1987-91. The Council oversaw a testing and
assessment program in Reading, Writing, Computation, and
Algebra for public colleges in New Jersey. It provided the
Chancellor and the Board of Higher Education: annual reports
on Results of NJCBSPT; periodic reports assessing the
Effectiveness of Remedial Programs in Public Colleges and
Universities (most recent presented to BHE in January 1992.
New Jersey Reading and Writing Advisory Committee: Member
1986-92,
Chair, 1987-89. This committee assessed and
prepared new annual forms of the reading and writing sections
of the New Jersey College Basic Skills Placement Test (taken
by c. 60,000 students statewide each year).
