Short-Term Synaptic Plasticity in Epileptic Seizures

Evelyn Sander

Department of Mathematical Sciences

Abstract

The dynamics of seizures involves the interaction between distinct neuron populations. The rapid fire volley between populations changes the effectiveness of postsynaptic signals, as a result of short term plasticity. In this talk, I will discuss the role of short term plasticity in orchestrating seizure dynamics. I will describe recent experiments and give a bifurcation analysis for biophysical model for a two population network.
