The 2017 MPI Workshop Graduate Fellowship
Description

The MPI Workshop Graduate Fellowship will support an outstanding graduate student who wishes to deepen or extend the collaborative workshop project after the MPI meeting. The fellowship will consist of a $6,000 stipend. The project must be completed during the remainder of the summer following the workshop and the fall immediately following the summer. The stipend will provide student financial support and expenses. The industrial partner will cover any travel required. It is expected that the research will lead to a published paper on the problem brought to the workshop.

How to Apply

To receive full consideration for the fellowship, students must provide the following documents by July 4, 2017:

  • A proposal of no more than 3 pages describing the project including research aims, methodology and expected outcomes. The proposal should explicitly identify the industrial mentor and an academic advisor.
  • A separate page should include a timeline and describe how the student and advisors will work together.
  • An unofficial graduate transcript.
  • A letter of support for the project by the student's graduate advisor at the student's home institution.
  • A letter of support from the industrial presenter at MPI.
  • A letter of support from a member of the MPI organizing committee.
A package including all of the above documents should be addressed to:
