"What you don't
understand can hurt you!"
That's one reason you might want to consider taking a…
MINOR IN GLOBAL STUDIES.
Here are some even
better reasons:
·
Global
literacy is essential to success in today's complex transnational workplace;
·
A minor
in Global Studies on your transcript distinguishes you as a 'value added' candidate
to prospective employers;
·
Your future
boss and many of your professional colleagues are likely to be from ethnic groups
different from your own; Global Studies can give you the knowledge and skills you
need to be an effective team member and to avoid cross-cultural conflict;
·
The broad-based
perspective you will acquire in Global Studies will help you make informed
decisions as citizen voter on both national and local issues;
And
last but not least….
·
Completing
a Minor in Global Studies is easy….Many of the courses you are taking
now or already plan to take in the future may fulfill both your GUR
requirements and the requirements of the Global Minor.
WHAT IS GLOBAL
STUDIES?
The Minor in Global Studies is an interdisciplinary program designed
· to provide students with an understanding of key international trends,
· to sharpen students' abilities to perform comparative analysis
of complex social and cultural phenomena, and
· to increase students' awareness of global cultural diversity and global economic integration.
The Minor in Global Studies is offered by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences but draws on courses from a range of departments at NJIT and Rutgers-Newark.
