The 21st century is an age of sensors. We will soon be living in a world with trillions of sensors with connectivity. People are calling it an Internet of Things (IoT) or Internet of Sensors (IoS). Together with big data and machine learning, this new sensing paradigm is going to bring about revolutionary changes to smart grid and smart city. Sensors are going to play a major role in practical engineering projects as well as blue sky research.

The Sensor Research Laboratory establishes the student club for undergraduate and master students who are interested in applying sensor technology in smart grid, smart city and autonomous systems. Students might have ideas and plans to apply sensors to develop technical projects, participate in competitions, form start-up companies, publish and present in a conference, etc. You can consider joining the Sensor Student Club, and the Sensor Research Laboratory can be your partner to achieve your goals and amplify your impacts. The Laboratory can provide expertise, technical support, and assistance to entrepreneurship in your adventures in sensors. Oftentimes, these adventures can be complementary and align and be coordinated with the theme of your senior design projects (ECE 417) or your master thesis projects (ECE 700 or ECE 701). Good strategic planning and coordination are key to success. If you have ideas on these topics below, please contact Dr. Philip Pong (philip.pong@njit.edu) to discuss.
