Quantitative physiology of human metabolism and bodyweight dynamics

Abstract

I will describe our work developing mathematical models of human metabolism and applying these models to predict how diet and physical activity affect body weight and composition over times scales of days to years. Such models have played an important role in the quantitative integration of physiological data, experimental design, and understanding the cause of the worldwide obesity epidemic.
