According to ARWU,
the Computer Science Department at NJIT is considered one of the top 100 Departments/programs in the
world and ARWU ranks it 51-75th. It is the only Department/program at NJIT that is ranked in the Top-100.

According to NRC,
the Computer Science Department at NJIT is ranked
somewhere between rank 66 and rank 104th out of 128 doctoral programs in the US in its most recent
(2010) survey.
NRC ranks the Information Systems program 96-119 (out of 128), ECE 61-100 (out of 128).
Based on research criteria alone, the Computer Science Department at NJIT ranks between rank 41 and 97,
based on student support criteria between 89 and 115, based on diversity between 69 and 116,
and based on "programs are ranked highly if they have similar features to programs viewed by faculty
as top-notch" between 70 and 104.

2. CS Department Information and Enrollment Figures

Incoming Class (Fall 2010) and Fall 2010 Enrollment.
In Fall 2010, we welcomed 72 full-time first-time freshman students, plus 34 transfer undergraduate
students. A total of 91 new Master's students joined the Computer Science program, and 5 PhD students.
Total enrollment in Computer Science undergraduate and graduate programs was 551 (301 for undergraduate
and 250 for graduate of which 52 are PhD students).
In addition the CS Department is the home for the Bioinformatics program
(9 and 32 for a total enrollment of 41), the Computer and Business program (12 and 13 for a 25 total),
and the graduate Software engineering program (Master's level enrollment at 11). Overall Department
enrollment in all four programs is 628 students.
