About Us

Diversity Park is a resource site for educators seeking diversity related instructional material to enlighten and train the teachers of today and tomorrow.
Every student is unique. They come from different walks of life. Some of them come from families with high incomes.
They get a chance to take vacations and go to museums, summer camps, and tours. Others students are not so fortunate. They
may live in a single parent home where a mother has to work two jobs just to make ends meet.
What does this mean in terms
of a student's education?
1) Not all students will have the same attitude about their education. Some will strive to make the best grades while others will only do enough to get by.
2) Students with different racial, social, and economic background will learn differently. Some will come to class and understand what is being taught because their parents encouraged their hobbies, invested in tutors,
and ensured good study habits. Others will come to class never having heard of what is being discussed maybe because they did not have a stable home environment and were concerned more
for their safety and when their next meal would be than picking up a book to do homework.
In education, Student Diversity is not just about black and white.
Student diversity is about all the things in a student's life which can affect learning. Every person who plays a part in a child's education
needs to understand the importance that diversity plays in that child's success.
