Exercise 13 - Testing DAQ boards

This exercise is due at the end of class. When you are finished, please call your instructor over to grade it.

  1. Testing the DAQ board.
  2. Connect short wires to the Analog Output terminals of the DAQ terminal block. You will need four wires: one connected to AOGND, one connected to DAC0OUT (D/A output channel 0), one connected to AIGND and ACH0 (Analog input channel 0).

Using the National Instruments supplied DAQ test panels, generate a sine wave on D/A output channel 0. Verify using an oscilloscope that the appropriate waveform is generated. (NOTE: This function does not work on Lab-PC 1200AI cards.)

  3. Testing the Analog Input

Using the Hewlett-Packard Function Generator, generate a 1KHz sign wave and connect this signal to the ACHO input. Verify using the DAQ test panels the Amplitude and frequency of the sine wave. Make sure that the A/D input channel is digitizing at a fast enough rate to eliminate aliasing.
