Applications are solicited for the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program. This program awards scholarships to current sopohomores and juniors who intend to pursue careers in the fields of science, mathematics, and engineering. All current sophomores and juniors majoring in these fields who are U.S. citizens, Permanent Residents, or U.S. Nationals, and have a GPA of at least 3.0 are eligible to apply. The scholarship provides up to $7,500 annually for eligible educational expenses.
NJIT is eligible to nominate up to four students for this scholarship. A brief (6 minute) presentation describing the program, eligibility requirements, and the application process, can be accessed at the Goldwater Scholarship Program's web site.
All eligible students interesting in applying for this scholarship should complete the pre-application form on this site.
The following are the deadlines for all scholarship nominees:
First Tuesday in September: Online applications open
Fourth Friday in October, 5 PM: Deadline to complete the pre-application form
One week after pre-application deadline: Semifinalists selected
Two weeks after semifinalists selected: Draft essays and short answers due
One week after drafts due: Finalists selected
Last day of fall semester classes, 5 PM: Second draft of essays and short answers due
One week before national deadline: Final essays and applications due
Last Friday in January, 6:00 PM ET: National nomination deadline
Last Friday in March: Goldwater Scholars announced
