Computer Construction Project and Experiments

Experiment 1:  Wiring the SBC

Once the preceding tutorial material has been read and understood, the students should proceed with the assembly of the microprocessor. This involves procurement of components, assembly, wiring and troubleshooting of the board.

The students are given six weeks to wire the microprocessor. This is a reasonable amount of time if it is used properly. During each course meeting the instructor will check each student’s progress. This is to make sure that procrastinators do not get rewarded with high grades. The idea is to maintain momentum from the first day. Failure to present a working microprocessor board by the end of the semester will result in course failure.
