Printing in DMS

The Department provides a number of postscript printers for common use by users of UNIX/Linux platforms in Cullimore Hall floors 2, 5, and 6. Micro$oft Windoze users must call the Help line at extension 2900 to configure their PC for these printers. Accordingly (the number in the queue name indicates the room in which the corresponding printer is sited):

the default printing queue for 2nd floor UNIX machines is math206bw.
the default printing queue for 5th floor UNIX machines is math511bw.
the default printing queue for 6th floor UNIX machines is math615bw.

In Cullimore 615 there is a color printer queue named math615co. All queues are available on all our common UNIX/Linux workstations. For printing from machines outside of Cullimore, e.g., hydra, please see under the appropriate link on the right. To print to a queue other than the default for the machine you're on, use the -P queuename switch to lpr. UNIX/Linux users with local printers can request that their printer be configured to accept printing requests from other platforms; contact the systems administrators using the link on the right.

You can use the postscript printers for transparencies provided you use slides that come from a box that specifically indicates that the contained slides can be used in a laser printer. If you're not sure of the nature of the slides you have please do not risk putting them in the printers; it is highly likely they will melt and ruin the printer and your wallet.
