Bootcamp Program

Bootcamp Objective:

FOUR NEW SPEAKERS WILL JOIN THIS WINTER SESSION! This 2-day offshore wind training bootcamp is for university students and engineers who are interested in starting a career in offshore wind industry to gain initial knowledge and understanding. The event aims to cover the general aspects of offshore wind farms. This bootcamp training will issue certificate of completion with 14 hours of PDH. Approximately this bootcamp is equivalent to a 1-credit course. If a participant passes the examination (multiple-choice questions) at the end of the bootcamp, this course can constitute towards a graduate certificate in the offshore wind education program under planning at NJIT. 

Target Audience:

There are no pre-requisite course requirements. Participants are expected to have an educational background in college-level or advanced-placement level of engineering or physical sciences. The bootcamp aims to provide a short-term, rigorous, fast-paced, and focused fundamental training to help practicing engineers, researchers, and graduates to transition from traditional power engineering roles into the new field of offshore wind energy.

 Important Notice:

1. Event will start at 8:30am. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshment will be provided. Please come early to have breakfast and network.


2. Free WIFI (https://ist.njit.edu/connecting-njitguest): Use "NJITguest". NO password is needed. Click the "Request Guest ID" link and provide email and SMS phone number. You will receive an email and text message with your guest account credentials.  Enter your Guest ID and password and click “Guest Sign On.” Note: Guest ID is only active for 24 hours.


3. Course materials (https://learn.njii.com/courses/nj-offshore-wind-bootcamp-training-winter23): The ppt slides will be provided online through the portal where you did the registration. If you forget or don't know your password, click "Forgot Password" to reset. If you are pre-registered guests, your password is "bootcampguest".


4. PDH and Completion Certificate: On the 2nd day of the Bootcamp (5 Dec) after all the courses, there will be an online examination (multiple-choice questions)and an online survey (https://learn.njii.com/courses/nj-offshore-wind-bootcamp-training-winter23). After completing them, you will receive the electronic PDH and Completion Certificate.


5. For participants passing the online examination (multiple-choice questions), this course can constitute as 1 credit towards a graduate certificate in the offshore wind education program under planning at NJIT.


6. Laptop/Smart phone: You will need your smart phone or better your laptop (bigger screen) to access the course ppt slides, do the online examination and online survey.


7. Business cards/Resume: You may bring along your business cards and resume to network with the instructors, panelists, and speakers from the offshore wind industry.


8. Check-in: Participants please check in at the desk on both days by signing on the attendance sheet.


9. Badges: For speakers, instructors, and panelists, we have badges prepared for you at the Check-in desk.

NJIT Parking Deck, 154 Summit St, Newark, NJ 07102. The entrance is left up. The exit gate opens up automatically. 

Local Accommodations

This NJIT webpage suggests some accommodations nearby. You may take the Newark Light Rail (Grove Street - Newark Penn Station line) and get off at the Warren Street/NJIT Station. It is just a short walk from the Warren Street/NJIT Station to the Campus Center.
